JIM GOODWIN revealed he is delighted with his Alloa side's form after their third straight win and welcomed their new-found consistency.

The Wasps have taken maximum points from the second quarter so far and the manager is enjoying seeing his side playing with confidence.

Their latest victory came over Airdrieonians last Saturday and despite the game ending in a narrow 1-0 win, the manager insists it could have been much more comfortable.

Goodwin told Advertiser Sport: "We are over the moon with the form we're in and we're playing some really good football.

"On another day we might have scored another two or three goals but the keeper has made two great saves from PJ Crossan's shot and the penalty.

"Overall I was really pleased from back to front. We looked really solid at the back again and they only had one opportunity where Neil Parry makes a crucial save.

"I'm delighted with the momentum. Consistency is important at any level."

Goodwin singled out fans' favourite Steven Hetherington for praise after an strong display in midfield, hailing the Englishman's performance as one of the best he has witnessed.

He said: "There were loads of good individual performances but I think I need to give a special mention to Stevie because I think that's as good a game as I've seen a central midfielder have. He was everywhere. I can't remember him giving the ball away and he stopped Airdrie counter-attacking us several times."

The Wasps boss has been forced to field an makeshift lineup in recent weeks thanks to an injury crisis, but with that coinciding with his side's upturn in fortunes, Goodwin admitted he can't see a reason to change his team for Saturday's visit to Albion Rovers.

He added: "There's no point changing things just now. Daryll Meggatt is back fit but Scott Taggart and Andy Graham have been outstanding at the back together, and Jon Robertson has filled in well at right back. Callum Crane has been terrific as well.

"It will be another difficult game at Albion Rovers. They hammered us at home so we certainly owe them one, and it would be nice for us to go and reverse that result. As always, we will prepare for a difficult game, because there are no easy games in this league."
