A DUNBLANE pharmacy has become the town's first dementia friendly business.

Bannerman's received the award as part of World Alzheimer's and Dementia Awareness Month, when all local firms were invited to sign up to the Dementia Friendly Programme.

Presenting the award was local MSP Keith Brown, who said: “Alzheimer’s and dementia are important issues affecting many local people and I would like to congratulate Bannerman’s Pharmacy in Dunblane on becoming the city’s first dementia friendly business.

“Achieving dementia friendly status will empower local businesses and shops to encourage people with dementia to keep active in our local communities and I am pleased to do what I can to help promote this initiative.

“With the regular Memory Café now established in the Braeport Centre, it is clear that the community of Dunblane is working together to support those affected by this extremely isolating condition.”
