THE first secretary of state met with Stirling Council officials to negotiate details of the region's City Deal.

Damian Green discussed details of the plans that set out an ambitious transformation programme to deliver a healthier, wealthier and greener future for the Stirling and Clackmannanshire area.

It proposes a number of key projects that will develop the area’s key sectors, achieve sustainable economic growth and tackle the economic and social inequalities that exist between our most and least advantaged citizens.

Stirling Council leader Scott Farmer said, “Our City Region Deal will make sure that Stirling becomes a place of opportunity for all, as well as a world class destination of choice for business and tourism.

“I am grateful to the first secretary of state for taking the time to visit us to hear about our plans and to see first-hand the positive impact this could have for our region.

“The negotiations with Scottish and UK Governments are progressing well and we are working towards a Heads of Terms Agreement.”
