THE annual Tillicoultry Community Week celebrations will kick off this week with a range of fun activities to suit all ages starting this Sunday.

Now in its sixth year, the town festival runs from August 13-20, with different events and activities taking place each day.

Each year, the week provides a huge range of free events that are provided by many local groups and enjoyed by hundreds of people over the week.

This year’s events range from scone making to woodland fun, from a bingo tea to a treasure hunt.

To kick off the week there is a barbecue at the foot of the recently reopened Mill Glen, with a barbecue and tubing event at Fir Park Ski Centre on Sunday, August 20.

There are many events put on by local groups and clubs including running, bowls, crepes, art, gardening and a quiz. Alongside this the Ben Cleuch Centre is hosting many events.

There will also be a wonderful family gardening event on Monday at the Ben Cleuch Centre from 1-2pm where people can have some fun getting their fingers green while also picking up some helpful tips.

The possible highlight of the week, however, is Friday night’s Tilly in the Park – a community music festival that has often attracted about 1000 people to enjoy the live bands in the Public Park.

The open-air concert is completely free to attend and relies on people’s donations to run.

All musicians and workers give their time for free to play at the concert but donations are required to pay for facilities and licences.
