PILING works are to begin on the train line between Alloa and Stirling at the end of the month.

As part of the Scottish Government's investment in infrastructure, the railway is being electrified throughout Scotland.

Prior to the installation of masts necessary to carry overhead wires, piles and concrete foundations will be put in place on the tracks.

The works will take place during the night between Monday, July 31, and Saturday, September 23, with noise expected for limited periods of time.

Detailed plans are to complete the Causewayhead to Cambus section between July and September, then continuing to Alloa between August and October.

Network Rail have invited residents to attend a community drop in event tonight (Thursday, July 20) between 4pm and 7pm at Tullibody Civic Centre to ask questions about the work.

At the meeting, members of the public will have the chance to discuss the changes and clarify how it will affect them.

A second meeting will take place on July 25 between 3.45pm and 6.45pm at the Hawkhill Community Centre.

The railway infrastructure organisation have said the process will reduce journey time between Stirling and Edinburgh and Glasgow by 15 per cent.

They apologise for any inconvenience the works may cause.
