ABERFOYLE residents have come together to discuss concerns over the area's decline in recent years.

Josh Stallard, owner of the Olde Christmas Shoppe, and Alison Boa, from the Village People community action group, are worried about the impact any neglect could have on businesses and visitor numbers.

Councillor Evelyn Tweed said: “It is clear that local people and businesses are disappointed that the previous council administration didn’t do enough to keep Aberfoyle ahead of the game in attracting business and visitors.

“On our walk around the village, we saw grass that badly needed cut, bins that needed to be replaced, broken picnic benches, and toilets in need of an upgrade. This does not showcase the very best of Aberfoyle – giving a poor impression to visitors and potential businesses."

She emphasised the need for the current administration to ensure that the City Region Deal works for everyone and said that attracting business to villages like Aberfoyle must be prioritised.

The councillor added: “I have discussed my concerns with council officers and will work with my colleagues on Stirling Council and others in order to deliver for the area over the next few years.

“I would like to work with local businesses in setting up a business forum in Aberfoyle that would work in tandem with the Council’s tourism strategy – addressing the primary concerns of businesses.”
