AN ELDERLY woman suffered serious injuries in a car crash in Callander yesterday, Wednesday June 21.

The incident, which left three people injured altogether, happened on the town's Stirling Road near its junction with Geisher Road at around 4.55pm on the day and police are appealing for witnesses.

A white Dacia Duster was travelling north on the road when it collided with a blue Renault Modus, which was heading in the opposite direction.

A 91-year-old female passenger of the white Dacia sustained serious injuries according to officers, she was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital with the latest update saying her condition is described as stable.

The 61-year-old female driver of the Dacia was also taken to hospital as a precaution, but was later released without treatment.

A 62-year-old woman, who was driving the Renault, was also admitted and is expected to be released later today.

Investigation the scene, officers closed the road off for five and a half hours after the crash.

Inspector Andrew Thomson from the Road Policing Unit at Stirling is urging anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the incident, or was on Stirling Road and may have witnessed the collision to get in touch immediately.

He said: “We believe that there were a number of pedestrians and other vehicles in the area around the time of the collision and I’m urging them to come forward with any information that can assist police as soon as possible.”
