A YOUNG driver hit another motor with his car and drove off without leaving details.

Last Wednesday, Vidmantas Speckaliskas admitted damaging a vehicle in Alloa's Leisure Bowl carpark on January 11 this year.

Fiscal depute Lindsey Brooks told the county's Justice of the Peace Court that the incident happened at some point between 6.30-9pm.

When the complainer returned to find their car damaged, the accused was quickly traced via CCTV.

When interviewed by police about failing to report the incident, Speckaliskas said: "I wasn't aware I had to."

Defending, Chris Macfarlane explained that his 24-year-old client was Lithuanian and didn't drive a great deal, however accepted that ignorance to the law was "not an excuse".

Speckaliskas, of Whins Road in Alloa, was fined £200.

Justice William Whyte also endorsed the accused's licence with five penalty points.
