A UNIQUE tool library in Stirling, with more than 300 items for members to borrow, will be running for at least another year.

Transition Stirling, an environmental charity based in Stirling Arcade, received further funding from the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.

Sewing machines, drills, saws, mechanical tools, gardening tools and cooking equipment are all available and are arranged like books in a library.

It is handy for people who do not want to buy a piece of equipment that will only be used once or twice before retiring to the garden shed or the loft.

Thanks to the fresh funding boost, the tool library will be offering a delivery service for those who do not regularly access the town centre or have difficulty lifting larger items.

Also new will be the monthly repair café, which will teach individuals how to mend broken items and give old tools a new lease of life.

A series of workshops will be hosted too, including sewing and mending, upcycling, growing, cooking and foraging.

Emma Erwin, project manager, said: “We’re delighted to be able to run the tool library for another year and to be able to make it even more accessible to people through our new delivery service.

“We’re also very excited to be encouraging and supporting people to learn new skills and help tool last longer through our repair café.”
