MATCH report from Bannockburn Amateur FC:

Blantyre Celtic 1 10 Bannockburn Amateur FC

Bannockburn passed round two of the M&M cup with an emphatic 10 away goals in the sun against Blantyre Celtic.

Things looked ominous when in form Allan Green took a bad knock within the first minute in an already depleted Burn side.

However even as Green struggled to shake of his injury he crafted an inventive back heel to open the scoring in the fourth minute.

Gary converted a penalty after Darren Walker was fouled.

Three minutes later Steven Knox was left alone on the halfway.

He sprinted to 25-yards then chipped the goalkeeper making it three without reply.

Within 20 minutes Green had his hat trick and on the half hour Knox made it six.

It was all Burn with chances falling to Barry Evans and Andrew McGown.

However a moment of slackness from Michael Weir gave Blantyre a strong looping shot that beat David Tait in goal making it 1:6 at half time.

The second half continued in the same vein for Burn and Harry Bruce netted a seventh with some quick feet after a precision cross from Knox.

Knox’s own hat trick made it 1:8.

Currie netted a second penalty after Weir was brought down. Home side’s no 10 sent off for his trouble.

Great approach play from Ross Cavanagh, Currie and Weir was finished by volley from outside the box by Harry Bruce
