WELSH pony Harry is desperate for a new home.

The Scottish SPCA has been caring for him at their Edinburgh Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 500 days, after he arrive there through no fault of his own.

According to the animal welfare charity, the horse is a "lovely character" and will bring "endless joy".

Centre Manager Diane Aitchison said: "When Harry arrived, he was very overweight and docile. He was sore on his feet and we think that contributed to his initial lack of personality.

"Since being in our care, he’s come on leaps and bounds. Now that he’s feeling better we can see his true sweet nature.

"Harry lives out with two mares overnight and is happy to be living both out and stabled. He will stand to be groomed all over and will happily be led past most things.

"He stands nicely for the vet, and loves a good scratch.

"Unfortunately Harry will have to go to a companion only home due to having a soft palate deformity.

"This is a common deformity and we will ensure that our vets discuss the implications with his new owners thoroughly.

"We’re really keen to find Harry a new home as he’s such a lovely character; we know he’d bring endless joy to his new home."

Anyone who can offer Harry a new home is being asked to contact the Scottish SPCA’s centre in Edinburgh on 03000 999 999.
