A STRATHEARN HARRIER will be running for charity at this year's Stirling Marathon.

The club's Andy Scott has been raising funds for good causes for a number of years, donating around £7,000 to charities like Macmillan, Marie Curie, PTSD Resolution and more.

He will be taking on the race in May as part of Team Hamish, raising cash for Hamish Dear's Warm Hugs.

The charity was set up by parents Kris and Hollie Dear following the death of their son Hamish not long after his first birthday.

Their organisation is driven by their own experience of having a child receiving treatment for cancer, with the aim of helping to make special memories for children and their families with financial support for activities and events.

Andy said: “I had the pleasure of sailing with Kris several years ago and like any new father, when Hamish was born Kris was absolutely delighted.

“I remember Kris telling me that soon after Hamish was born, he popped into a bookies and put a tenner on Hamish playing for Aberdeen by the time he was 18.

“What followed was heart-wrenching, and what Kris and Hollie have done in setting up Hamish Dear's Warm Hugs is nothing short of inspirational.”
