STIRLING band Robbie Hutton and the Distant Cousin will have a single launch at The Mediterranea next month.

The four-piece will unveil song 'Mistakes' on Saturday, April 1 which fans will also be able to get on iTunes and Spotify.

They will then be gearing up for a busy few weeks ahead which will see them perform at Gig in the Goil at Lochgoilhead – on the same bill as bands like Skerryvore – on Saturday, May 5 and Fake Festivals in Perth on Saturday, May 20.

During the single launch the audience can expect around 50 minutes of original music, plus lead singer and rhythm guitarist Robbie Hutton playing a few songs on piano and acoustic guitar.

Support will come via Daryl Brown from Perth who is opening the night.

There will also be an after show by local DJ Roy McLaren from Hear To Hear music, spinning until 1am.

Robbie teamed up with Jason Clark, lead guitarist, Declan Corcoran, bass/backing vocals, and Iain McCreath on drums to form the band around three months ago.

He describes their sound as catchy, melodic “indie pop” with some heavy influences from Oasis and The View – what he listened to growing up.

The 23-year-old said: “I have always been writing songs and performing solo and I wanted the songs to sound the way they do on my recordings – with a lot more energy.

“I thought having a full band was the best way to move forward with my music.

“I grab inspiration from anywhere – whether it be somebody you know, something you see, something you feel.

“There are loads of different factors in your day-to-day life that can influence you to write a certain type of song.”

The single launch will be held from 8pm until 1am.
