DOUNE CASTLE had to settle with a point each against Cumbernauld Colts despite taking the lead twice.

But the Castle had no complaints that honours were even.

Sean Heaver put Doune into the lead early on at three minutes.

He rifled a low drive from 30 years which flew into the far corner, with the aid of an en route deflection to make it 1 – 0.

Cumbernauld equalised after 40 minutes, finishing clinically with a side-foot shot from six yards.

Less than a minute later, David Innes restored the lead for Doune.

He skilfully intercepted a pass to gain possession just outside the Colts' half. Drifting past two more defenders, Innes skimmed a pinpoint drive low into the right hand corner of the net from 25 yards to make it 2 – 1.

After 58 minutes, Cumbernauld equalised again. Their wide man gathered near the left touchline 30 yards out and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner.

Dylan McGowan smashed a fierce shot from 22 yards at 63 minutes, but the keeper dived full-length to parry.

Castle keeper Steven Fotheringham had work to do as well, making an outstanding save when a Colts player flashed a powerful low shot from just inside the box.

Innes had one more move when he weaved his way past several defenders to put one on target from the edge of the box. The keeper was there to meet it, however.

The remaining time passed without any further openings in the highly competitive match.
