DOUNE CASTLE is facing a replay following a hard-fought Scottish Amateur Cup draw in the fifth round.

The Castle was away against Greenock HSFP and just four minutes in, Niall McClure dived to bullet a strong header from eight yards towards the goal.

But with fine reflexes, the keeper instinctively managed to claw the ball out from under the bar.

Graham McClymont was unfortunately then forced to retire from the match early after twisting his knee in a challenge.

On 30 minutes, Dylan McGowan smacked a low shot from 20 yards, but the keeper did well to push it away, before watching Lukasz Duszynski's audacious 30-yard lob drop narrowly over the bar.

Later on, Greenock threatened the Doune defence seriously for the first time with a drive on the run from 22 yards deflected high over the bar, much to the relief of Malcolm Scott.

Getting close to half time, Alan More swivelled quickly, flashing a fierce volley that flew just inches wide of the right-hand post.

Niall McClure then spotted Tucker off his line and lofted the ball home from 40 yards, but the referee judged he had tugged his opponent as he had broken clear.

Taking the lead three minutes into added time, Chris Ogilvie powered a pinpoint corner into the box with Alan More rising the highest to land a strong downward header into the net from 12 yards.

Just 90 seconds after the start of the second half, Greenock snatched a quick equaliser.

Breaking down their left flank, the home squad cut inside and hit a low drive from just inside the box.

Malcolm Scott reached the ball, was unable to hold onto it with a forward following up to send the loose ball into the net from six yards.

The unsettled Doune side's plays became disjointed with Greenock then enjoying a 10-minute spell of pressure with one further effort from the right edge of the box flying narrowly past as well as another attack headed away by Des Currie.

Just after 81 minutes, Jacob Macaloney broke down the right and sent a good effort across to the back post.

However, neither team managed to create any clear chances or openings with Doune left frustrated about not making more of the first half.

On the other hand, the squad is welcoming the replay opportunity after a spirited second half performance from Greenock.
