CLUBSPORT Stirling has awarded Stirling and Falkirk Canoe Club £1500 to help support the club purchase a new Gatz Mink Canoe and additional equipment such as buoyancy blocks, paddles and poles.

The club has been actively increasing family participation in many of the canoeing disciplines and this boat will go a long way to developing younger paddlers as well as female membership, of which these types of canoes are most popular.

This canoe will also help develop the coaching of open boat paddling and allow more participation on club trips. Alasdair Gammock from ClubSport Stirling Management Committee presented the club with the cheque at Bannockburn High School where the club trains and hopes this money will help develop the club in a positive way.

Tom Gebbie, club development officer (Dunblane & Mclaren) commented: "Stirling and Falkirk Canoe Club has been doing a lot of great work to increase participation and this funding will be incredibly beneficial to help support this initiative."
