Transition Stirling held its feast and fling, a family friendly event with a big shared meal and ceilidh with Riverside Ceilidh Band at Stirling Rowing Club.

Transition Stirling is the community group behind the tool library in Stirling Arcade funded by Scottish Government through the climate challenge fund, stocking everything from drills to saws, food processors to luggage scales. Anyone can come along and borrow tools for free if they come in and register with proof of address, dated within the last three months, and some photographic ID.

It also has workshops on how to grow food, cook with it, forage, make upcycled jewellery, refurbish furniture and mend clothes. A feast together invites anyone who’d like to come to bring any meal of their choice. Participants can give each other’s a try and learn how to make something new and sustainable.

It was a great way to bring people together, to get to know each other and celebrate the excellent work Transition Stirling is doing. Project manager Emma Erwin said: “We all had a marvellous time and it was great to meet lots of new people who would like to get involved with Transition Stirling.” To find out more about the organisation visit transitionstirling.org.uk or anyone can just pop into the tool shed at Stirling Arcade.

Transition Stirling would like to give a massive thanks to the Big Lottery Fund for making the event possible through their celebrate fund. Another huge thank you to the volunteers who made all the decorations, making bunting and pom poms out of recycled materials and lanterns using Autumn leaves and upcycled jars and those who made cordials for the event from local food.
