Stirling housebuilder Avant Homes has enjoyed a very strong start to 2016 with the business acquiring four new developments sites across the central belt in the last six months.

The most recent purchase is of a 16 acre site in Newcraighall where the developer has planning permission for 176 family homes. The other three sites are located in Haddington, Rosewell and Denny. All four combined have a development value of £200 million and will deliver a total of 850 new homes over the next five years.

In Haddington 89 new homes will be built at Burnell Park on Aberlady Road. 290 family properties will be delivered at Hawthornden on Gorton Road in Rosewell, whilst 307 homes are being built at Chacefield View off Glasgow Road in Denny.

Each of these developments will provide a collection of two, three, four and five-bedroom, semi-detached and detached houses. Planning has been granted with work already underway across all four sites. The first homes in Chacefield View and Burnell Park are expected to be ready for occupation in the summer, with first completions due at Hawthornden and Newcraighall at the end of the year.

Managing director of Avant Homes Scotland, David Knight, said: “The purchase of these four new sites represents a significant investment for the business and is part of our ongoing strategy for a major roll out of new developments in 2016 and 2017 taking our current portfolio of developments to seven by the end of the year.

“All will create a significant number of sales and construction jobs over the next two years and form part of our strategic growth plan to increase the number of homes we build in Scotland to 400 units in 2017 and achieve a turnover of £86 million - a 100 per cent increase on 2014.

“We have a large strategic land bank and are also currently looking at new land in another four locations which we hope to announce in the coming months.”
