Stirling MP Steven Paterson joined the annual march with the Save Gillies Hill campaign last weekend.

The march, from Cambusbarron to Bannockburn, raises awareness of the campaign to preserve Gillies Hill.

Steven said: “Gillies Hill is vitally important to our historical and natural heritage and I was delighted to take part in a march in support of this spectacular site.

“The planning application for quarrying has been appealed to the Scottish Government due to non-determination at Stirling Council.

"I am deeply concerned that a motion to Stirling Council, tabled by myself in June 2014 when I served as a Councillor, which was passed and instructed Officers to fully investigate granting Gillies Hill with a protected nature reserve status, has not made any progress two years on. I have written to the Chief Executive of Stirling Council on this matter and await his response.

“I am grateful to the organisers of the march and the Save Gillies Hill campaign for their hard work in this area.”
