The Jubilee Lunch Club, the weekly drop-in service, will remain open over the summer months by popular demand of its guests.

The club is held in the Allan Park South Church Pillar Hall, Dumbarton Road and is available on Thursdays from 12-2pm, with a different activity commencing at 1pm each week.

During the summer months there will be a few changes to the menu, with either a sweet or salad items being provided instead of soup. But what won’t change is the warm welcome that guests will receive from Julie Christie, the lunch club coordinator, or the wonderful volunteers who help to provide and serve the lunch.

With so many groups and clubs closing over the summer period it can be very easy for older people to become lonely and isolated as they feel that there is nowhere else to go.

The Jubilee Lunch Club celebrates the worth of older people within the community and the club wants to encourage older people, especially those who live alone, or are carers for elderly family members to drop in and share some lunch and a time of friendship and fun within a warm, safe environment.

The Jubilee Lunch Club is funded by a ‘Go for It’ grant from the Church of Scotland.
