Last week, 14 five-a-side teams took part in Doune and Dunblane’s longstanding summer tournament, organised for the communities by 25th Stirling (Dunblane) Boys’ Brigade.
The preliminary tournament took place over Monday and Tuesday evenings at Dunblane Primary School’s field and the finals took place on Saturday during the school fete.
The children organise their own teams independently, often coming up with clever (and not-so-clever) names.
This year’s winners of the P4/5 tournament were boys from Dunblane Soccer Club’s 2006 ‘City’ team, who overcame their erstwhile team-mates 2006 United in the final, 2-0.
In the P6/7 tournament a team named after its goal celebration, ‘One Two Dab Crew’, were victors in the final over Lonsdale United.
The Boys’ Brigade would like to thank everyone who took part and came along to support, including St. Andrew’s Ambulance, who provided first aid cover.
Tonight (Wednesday) sees the second half of the tournament begin, with the S1/2 competition kicking off at Dunblane Primary fields at 6.30pm. For more pictures from the tournament, please see facebook.com/dunblanebb
