Stirling Highland Games event organiser, Matt McGrandles, is delighted to announce that EventScotland has awarded funding through its national programme to help develop the growing cultural and sporting event for the Stirling area.

Matt said: "We have some big plans for this year’s event.

"In addition to providing a highly successful competition for athletes we want a day out at Stirling Highland Games to be an experience for our visitors.

“So, when they come along to enjoy the traditional highland games events this year, they will also be able to enjoy our Trade Village which includes an array of Scotland’s award winning food and drink produce, sample some craft beer at the Harviestoun draught keg beer bar, meet some Scottish Clans and give the younger audience the chance to participate in some activities with a mini highland games challenge for kids.”

The funding secured from EventScotland, a team within VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, will allow Stirling Highland Games to develop its digital marketing campaign and food and drink offering.

Building on the success of last year’s games the 2016 event will create more opportunities for Scotland’s Food & Drink producers to sell to a wider client base. The Stirling Games attracts many overseas visitors as well as visitors from across the UK to the region each year.

Paul Bush OBE, director of events at VisitScotland, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Stirling Highland Games again this year. Scotland is the perfect stage for events and Matt and his team have brought together another exciting programme, including a strong food and drink element.

"Our support and will enable the event to develop and grow; delivering a significant economic impact and attracting visitors from across Stirlingshire and further afield.”

There is definitely something for everyone at this year’s event and Stirling Highland Games chieftain, Lesley Paterson, looks forward to welcoming you on Saturday, August 20. Discounted tickets can be purchased online up until July 31 at stirlinghighlandgames.com
