PLANS for this year’s Dunblane Fling, Thursday, May 26 to Sunday, May 29, are almost complete and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Events start with the Jazz Night on Thursday at the Westlands Hotel, featuring The Allan Jazz Band, Stirling Crisis, and Jazz Mark IV.

Entry is £5 and tickets are available online at www.dunblanefling.com or at Smallprint and Mo-Lawn in Dunblane or pay at the door.

On Friday there will be a GLOW UV party for P5-P7 at the Dunblane Centre; tickets are £3, payable at the door.

Saturday’s Fling by the River starts with the traditional parade down the High Street, led this year by the Boys Brigade band – go along and join the throng at the Cathedral Hall at noon.

On the Drying Green, there is a full programme of entertainment in the marquees, music and storytelling for the kids in the Yurt, the famous Rotary Duck race at 1pm and a Tug of War at 3.30pm.

In keeping with the theme of sport, lifestyle and healthy living, there are lots of activities going on – golf, tennis, soccer, bowls to name a few.

There is a Bouncy Castle for the really energetic and if people want to see a real Atlantic Crossing rowing boat, go along to support Team Noble who are planning to row 3,000 miles from the Canary Island to Antigua next year to raise funds for the Firefighters charity.

The High Street will be closed during the afternoon and there will be lots of entertainment, food from local shops and of course a stunning array of classic cars will be on show.

Saturday night’s Concert in the Victoria Halls starts at 7.30pm and features the highly acclaimed Tim Edey Trio & Aaron Fyfe supported by local lass Holly Jarvis.

And finally, on Sunday, the Fling Festival Club will be held at the Braeport Centre at 7.30pm, hosted by Dunblane Folk Club.

Go along and hear everything from bluegrass to Burns.
