An innovative device that makes golf accessible to wheelchair users was showcased at a special event at Glenbervie Golf Club.
The extraordinary invention which allows users to stand up and play is the brainchild of Anthony Netto. The South African born professional golfer and US veteran was shot through the hip whilst on duty in Iraq in 1991 and three years later suffered more fractured vertebrae when he was hit by a drunk driver.
After being paralysed from the waist down and going through months of rehabilitation, Anthony encountered the challenges of trying to play golf again as a paraplegic and went on to develop the Paragolfer machine which is now set to be launched in Scotland.
The event hosted by Stirling University Innovation Park, the Sporting Chance Initiative and Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce, offered the chance to hear Anthony’s remarkable story, quiz the inventor and see the unique device in action.
