The Project Malawi team is holding a family-friendly Race Night in the Victoria Halls, Dunblane on Saturday, April 23 at 7.30pm. A cash bar will operate with nibbles and snacks available, too. Tickets are £5 and are available from Colin Anderson on 822955 or by e-mailing projectmalawi@dunblanebb.org.uk.

A Soup and Sweet Lunch is also being held on Sunday morning, April 24 from 11.45am at St. Mary’s Church Hall. Entry is by donation and there will be several choices of soup and homemade desserts available. All are welcome. All funds raised at these events will directly fund the renovation of two primary schools in Likhubula, Malawi, this summer.

During the Easter holiday, fourteen boys took part in the Uniformed Youth Organisations Music Camp at Redford Barracks in Edinburgh. The week comprised individual and group tuition, rehearsals and educational trips for members of the BB, Air Cadets and Army Cadets from around the UK. The week culminated in a spectacular two-hour concert at Stockbridge Church in Edinburgh, which raised over £500 for the Army and RAF Benevolent Funds and the BB World Mission Fund.

Three boys from Dunblane BB were given special awards at the prizegiving parade at the end of the week. James Connery was awarded the prize for Best Student in the junior band, while Ben Tullis won the ‘most improved musician’ in the senior band and Ben Parkinson the award for Best Student in the music direction course, which involved his conducting the 60-strong band for part of the concert.
