THE Young Scot Awards tour bus will visit Stirling University next week, to meet young Scots and urge locals to nominate heroes for the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards.

The Young Scot Awards Megabus tour is hitting the road for the fourth year running and it will spend four weeks travelling around the country, searching for inspiring young people who deserve recognition for their extraordinary work to improve the lives of others in their community.

The Young Scot Awards is Scotland’s biggest celebration of young people and aims to showcase the outstanding contribution of young people aged 11-26 who have made a real difference to the lives of others.

The Megabus will visit towns and cities across Scotland and members of the public will get the opportunity to have their photograph taken with famous faces including David Farrell, Jennifer Reoch and the cast of River City.

People in Stirling are invited to visit the bus on Tuesday, February 9, at 11am to nominate a local young hero for a chance to be recognised for all their hard work and achievements.

Louise Macdonald, chief executive of Young Scot, said: "We want people across Stirling to nominate young people who go above and beyond to improve the lives of people in their community. We’ve already received hundreds of exceptional stories but we know there are hundreds more out there. The Young Scot Awards are Scotland’s chance to celebrate young people’s inspirational achievements. Get nominating so we can give them the praise they deserve."

Now in its eleventh year, the Young Scot Awards celebrates young people’s contributions and work across categories such as volunteering, community, diversity, enterprise and education.

From hundreds of entries, three finalists will be chosen in each of the 12 categories.

The winners will be announced at a sensational red carpet ceremony at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Wednesday, April 27.

Managing Director of megabus.com, Edward Hodgson, said: "We are proud to be involved once again in the Young Scot Awards which celebrate some of the most creative, courageous, talented and dedicated young people in Scotland. We hope our bus tour across the country will help generate lots of nominations and we look forward to hearing more about Scotland's amazing young people on the night of the awards."
