Steven Paterson MP visited Glendrick Roost Animal Welfare Centre on Saturday (October 3) to speak with volunteers.

Glendrick Roost is a sanctuary that takes in all animals who are desperately in need of care and a home. From animals as small as rabbits and guinea pigs, to large animals such as horses, donkeys, and cows. It is also currently home to 15 dogs with various different needs.

Self-funded since 2003, the sanctuary relies on generous charitable donations for funding - as well as the tireless work of their small team of volunteers.

The new Glendrick Roost website gives people the chance to sign up and donate to the organisation. Visitors to the website can also sponsor an animal and book a tour visit of the sanctuary.

Commenting on his visit, Steven Paterson said: "I was grateful to be invited along to see this brilliant sanctuary. The volunteers work hard to give neglected and unwanted animals a second chance. It was touching to see the furry residents of Glendrick Roost out playing and interacting with each other in their happy home.

“Three of the dogs I got a chance to meet were totally blind. However, the care and attention they receive here means that they live playful and happy lives. The sanctuary is currently home to 15 dogs, all with different needs.

“They melt your heart. I wanted to take them all away with me, but I doubt the House of Commons' Sergeant of Arms would be too happy if I turned up with 15 playful dogs."
