A member of the public made the discovery at a piece of wasteland adjacent to Stirling Railway Station at around 1.55pm yesterday and contacted police.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the woman's identity and determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
The family of 49-year-old Christine have been informed of this discovery and will be kept fully updated with the progress of the enquiry.
As reported yesterday (Monday 19 January), the woman’s identity and age have not been released and her death is currently being treated as unexplained.
In a joint statement from Police Scotland and British Transport Police, a spokesperson confirmed: “This afternoon, Monday 19 January 2015, the body of a woman was found in the vicinity of Stirling railway station. Officers from BTP and Police Scotland are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish her identity and the cause of death.”
