Moncrieff Church Boys’ Brigade Company: All sections of the Company finished their winter session with parents’ evenings last week. The Juniors and Anchor Boys held their parents’ evening last Tuesday in the church hall before a large turnout of family members. After a varied display of activities by both sections, Mrs Forrest, Officer in Charge, reported on the work of the past year and presented boys with their many awards. The main awards were: Perfect Attendance - Christopher Hunter, Callum Douglas, Kai Dawson and Lleyton Batchelor: Best Anchor Boy - Cameron Monk; Joint Best Juniors - Christopher Hunter and Corey Welsh; Runner-up - Callum Douglas. The Best Anchor Group were ‘Owls’ and the Best Junior Section Group was Jaguar. The Company Section held it’s Inspection, Display and Presentation of Awards on Friday in Alloa Academy, when the Inspecting Officer was Rev. Lynn Mack, Stirling and District Battalion Chaplain. A large turnout of parents and family members saw a varied Display of Company activities before Mr Forrest, Company Captain, gave a report on the year’s events and Rev. Mack presented the awards. The Company won awards in: Battalion Ten-Pin Bowling Trophy, Braveheart Junior Drill Trophy and Central Region Drill Trophy. Josh Clark was winner of the Battalion Senior Table Tennis Trophy, while Dean Reid won the Battalion Senior Ten-Pin Bowling event. The Best Junior Boy Trophy was shared by Alan Hunter and Robbie Hay, while winner of the Alan Williamson Memorial Shield for Best Boy was Josh Clark. Number 2 Squad under L/Cpl Dean Reid won the Hodginson Cup for Best Squad. Alexander Cassidy and Peter Christie were presented with the President’s Badge, while Josh Clark, Chris Hislop and Stuart Milne were presented with the Queen’s Badge. The Anchor Boys enjoyed very unexpectedly good weather on their trip to the Safari Park on Saturday and had a great time enjoying the many facilities of the park. St Mungo’s Parish Church of Scotland: Beatrice Campbell, one of their members, would like to express her grateful thanks to members of the congregation who donated to enable her to train as a Street Pastor in Stirling. Christian Aid Week in Dollar, Muckhart and Glendevon: From 11 - 17 May around 300,000 people will be active in Britain and Ireland, working together to raise millions of pounds during Christian Aid Week to offer people around the world the chance to make a better life for themselves. Again, this year, hopefully the people of Dollar, Muckhart and Glendevon will volunteer their time and skills to support Christian Aid Week here in the local community. MENSTRIE Menstrie Parish Church: Worship was conducted by Rev L Mack and Bible readings were from Psalm 30 and John 21:1-19. The address was entitled “The man on the beach” when Jesus appeared to four of his disciples after his resurrection. How often do we miss the obvious? Peter was forgiven and given a fresh start. So can we. Mary and Fiona’s walk on behalf of the Bible Society raised £200. There will be a village door-to-door collection on behalf of Christian Aid this week. Fabric boxes will be emptied between 15 May and 15 June. This Sunday 18 May, at the end of worship, a vote will be taken on how the congregation feel about a deferred linkage. Please go along and make your views known. The annual plant sale takes place on Saturday 7 June when there will be a selection of plants available suitable for bedding, hanging baskets, perennials and vegetables. The first of the Summer Stalls will also be held.

Menstrie Pensioners’ Association: The AGM will be held in Menstrie Parish Church Hall on Wednesday 21 May at 7.30pm. After the business meeting, bookings and payment will be taken for membership (£3.50) and bus outings on Saturday 31 May and Thursday 14 August. All welcome.

Shuttleworth told the congregation that Jesus is our good shepherd and through Him we will be saved but we should also be a good shepherd to others.
