COUNCILLOR Archie Drummond has spoken out about fears over continued transport to Larbert hospital.

As previously reported in the Advertiser, concerns have been raised over the bus service to Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

MSP Keith Brown said he had been informed that from August this year, NHS Forth Valley plans to make cuts to the bus service - which would mean many people from Clackmannanshire will only be able to access the H1 and H2 hospital buses from Alloa.

NHS Forth Valley had confirmed it was reviewing all of the supported bus services to the hospital but said "no decisions have been made".

Cllr Drummond said he has since raised this issue with MSP Alex Neil.

He explained, "I have written to Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Well-being and the man in charge of NHS Scotland to urge him to prevent NHS Forth Valley's threat to cut off Hillfoots access to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

"When they closed Stirling Royal Infirmary, with all its excellent public transport links to the Hillfoots, NHS Forth Valley formally agreed to provide direct transport from Clackmannanshire to the new hospital." Clackmannanshire Council is holding talks over these concerns. An urgent meeting has been called by Chief Executive Elaine McPherson and Council Leader Gary Womersley with the Chair and Chief Executive of NHS Forth Valley.
