AWARD-WINNING makeup artist Stacey Whittaker has some top tips for turning your summer look to autumn.

The transition between summer and autumn can be hard to adjust to. It’s not only your wardrobe that needs updating as the seasons change, your skin care and makeup routine also need to be amended.

As the temperature drops it can have an impact on your skin, leaving it much more dry and sometimes quite dull. You can adjust your skin care regime to help resolve this and I always find that facemasks work really well to boost dry skin.

One of my favourites is the Elemis Exotic Cream Moisturising Mask. Whilst you may have been able to use less moisturiser during the summer, it is best to add a nourishing cream back into your morning and evening routine to keep skin looking plump and hydrated.

It is usually tempting, as your summer tan fades, to opt for a foundation with more coverage to conceal a duller complexion than you have been used to for the last few months but I would recommend against this.

Stick with a lightweight foundation such as the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk so your skin is able to breathe yet will still look flawless. One product I would recommend changing for autumn is your blusher, especially if you have been using a bronzing blusher throughout the summer. Swapping this for a pink toned blush will give your face a fresh look and will look better against your slightly paler skin – nothing says autumn like rosy cheeks.

I don’t tend to recommend altering your eyebrow routine too much however you may find you can pencil them in a bit darker if, like many of us, you take your hair a few shades darker in autumn.

I do, however, love to incorporate some autumnal shades in eye makeup throughout autumn months. Cranberry tones are one of my favourite colour palettes for this time of year and a subtle hue swept over the eyelid paired with a matte textured lip is always stunning.
