TRYST Theatre will present a great comedy double bill in Alloa next month.

The two short plays are One Good Beating by Linda McLean and Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut by Morag Fullarton.

One Good Beating is a blackly comic story of a grown-up brother and sister who exact revenge on their violent father. Locking him in the coalbunker as payback for years of sniping, bullying and pain, they are both aching to use their fists on him - but he's not defeated quite yet.

The three actors are Jennifer Marjoribanks, Richard Mackintosh and Brian Tripney.

Meanwhile in Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut, three actors are preparing for a performance of their play based on the famous film which starred Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

One puts on the white tuxedo and practices the curled lip, another wishes there was some dance in it while the third seems completely at ease and unconcerned. But once they get their act together the gags come thick and fast and it’s chock full of your favourite lines – some of the most iconic in cinema history.

The three actors are Rhona McColl, Brian Paterson and Jim Allan.

Jim, who also directs both plays, said: "The two plays are very contrasting but together provide a great evening’s entertainment.

“One Good Beating is a wickedly funny picture of a bizarre and dysfunctional family while Casablanca is a loving homage to the popular black and white romantic drama from the 1940s.”

Tryst's comedy double bill runs from Sunday 5 to Thursday, February 9 in Alloa’s Coach House Theatre. Tickets, priced £10, are available online at ticketsource.co.uk/trysttheatre
